Training & Teachers
Some of the key trainings that I use in my therapy work, and where/with whom I have trained, are listed below:
EMDR (with EMDR works)
Compassion Focused Therapy (with Paul Gilbert)
Internal Family Systems Therapy (with Frank Anderson)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (during Doctorate in Clinical Psychology)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (BABCP accredited)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (with CPI Bristol)
Systemic/Family Therapy (AFT accredited)
Sound & Movement (various)
Ecopsychology (see below)
Yoga (see below)
Womb / Yoni connection (various)
Much of this training has occurred whilst undertaking my clinical doctorate in psychology and in additional training courses. However, the real depth of learning has occurred through applying, critiquing and exploring what I have learned through my relationships, both personal and professional.
I have studied ecopsychology with Micheál and Rhonda at the Natural Academy. I have benefitted greatly from shorter immersions with Chris Park, Caroline Hillier and Dorrie Joy.
I have undertaken over 1000 hours of training in yoga (with non-dual Shaiva/Shakti Tantra as a unifying philosophy), and untold hours of my own practice, which has been a lifeline to me since 2002. My influences have included numerous texts old and new, various fantastic teachers I have found amid my world travels, as well as the incredible fellow teachers & students I practice with in Bristol. Key teachers over longer periods of time have been the fountains of knowledge Sarah Harlow, Christopher Gladwell & Sam Burkey at Yogasara, and medicine woman Mollie Moon & soul enchanter Tahawa Eli at Soul Ascension. Further training has included work with Sophia Ansari around de-colonising yoga, Ambra Vallo around hands on teaching, and Dianne Bondy & Amber Karnes around making yoga accessible for all bodies.
I have been deeply influenced by the work of Bill Plotkin, Uma Dinsmore Tuli, Christopher Wallis, Kavitha Chinnaiyan, Alexandra Pope and Toko-pa Turner to name just a few, although I have not studied with them in person (yet!)
